Lil’ Ipsum — Last updated May 2026

The short version Your placeholder text is your business. Lil’ Ipsum sends one anonymous “app installed” event when you first launch — that’s it. No usage tracking, no personal data, no clipboard snooping.

What we collect

Nothing. Lil’ Ipsum collects no personal information, usage data, analytics, or telemetry of any kind.

What stays on your device

All of your data lives exclusively on your Mac:

  • Settings — your chosen library, HTML wrapping preferences, hotkey toggle, and notification preferences are stored in your local UserDefaults.
  • Custom libraries — any text files you import are copied to your Mac’s Application Support folder and never leave your device.
  • Clipboard contents — generated text is written directly to your system clipboard. We don’t read, log, or transmit clipboard data.

Analytics

Lil’ Ipsum uses PostHog to count installs. The first time you launch the app, a single anonymous app_installed event is sent containing your macOS version and the app version number. That’s it — one event, sent once, never again.

This data is used solely to understand how many people have installed the app. No usage data, no clipboard contents, no library choices, and no personal identifiers are ever collected or transmitted.

Third-party services

Lil’ Ipsum uses PostHog solely for the one-time install event described above. PostHog does not receive any other data from this app. There are no advertising SDKs, crash reporters, or other third-party frameworks.

Notifications

If you enable copy notifications, Lil’ Ipsum uses macOS’s local notification system to display a banner after each copy. These notifications are generated and displayed entirely on your device — no data is sent anywhere.

Children

Lil’ Ipsum does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling Lil’ Ipsum removes the app from your Mac. Your settings are stored in UserDefaults and your custom libraries are in ~/Library/Containers/com.aaronkwhite.lilipsum/Data/Library/Application Support/LilIpsum/ — you can delete these at any time through Finder or the Terminal.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Given that we collect nothing, we don’t anticipate much changing.
